Nitrate Removal Resin

Nitrates are one of the most common contaminants in private UK water sources. It is most commonly caused by fertilizers, but also occurs naturally in soil and in the atmosphere. Unfortunately, nitrates are highly soluble in water and if not filtered, can cause health problems. Nitrates can also cause “Blue Baby Syndrome,” where oxygen transportation in the bloodstream of babies is hindered. High levels of nitrates in water can also be carcinogenic. Therefore, it is important to control the levels of nitrates to ensure it is safe to drink.

The maximum nitrate contaminant that is considered safe to drink is 50mg/L. An effective method for removing nitrates from water is through the use of an anion exchange resin, such as NR-1. This resin is specifically developed for selective nitrate removal and refreshes uses regular softener salt. NR-1 can be configured for simplex and duplex systems, depending on your requirements.
