Ecomix

Ecomix unique blend of five different filter medias provides an all-in-one treatment for the removal of iron, manganese, ammonia, organic matter and water hardness. Two of the ingredients, FerroSorb and HumiSorb are unique to Ecomix, providing a highly effective method of treatment for problem water. Other ingredients include an inert layer for treating oxidised iron, cation exchange resin for softening water, and quartz sand for ensuring uniform flow across the vessel.

FerroSorb

FerroSorb removes iron and manganese from the water supply in the following process: Absorption, Oxidation, Active Layer Formation, Autocatalytic Oxidation. This process removes all the most common types of iron from water; dissolved, suspended, organic and colloidal. FerroSorb also contains active sites which removes manganese from water without the need for aeration or chlorination. FerroSorb (and Ecomix as a whole) shows best results when the problem water is fed straight to the Ecomix unit. There is no need to use an oxidisation pre-treatment beforehand.

HumiSorb

HumiSorb removes organic matter from problem water using hydrophobic and electrostatic mechanisms. This helps to remove tannins and colour in water.

Regeneration

Ecomix regenerates using normal softener salt. The regeneration process displaces calcium and magnesium ions from the citation exchange resin, replacing them with sodium ions. During the backwash process, magnesium and iron compounds are removed from the FerroSorb beads via surface friction. HumiSorb sorption properties are reversible, dispelling organic molecules, and regenerated with chloride ions.

Ecomix A or Ecomix P

Depending on the quality of the water you wish to treat, you may require either Ecomix A or Ecomix P.

Ecomix A offers a robust and effective all-round water treatment. It removes iron, manganese, organic matter and helps treat ammonia as well as water hardness. Ecomix P is a more lightweight variant, still capable of removing iron and manganese and softening water, however it does not remove ammonia from the water supply. Whereas Ecomix A has an average lifespan of 5 years, Ecomix P has a slightly shorter lifespan of 3 years.
