Project Overview
J&F Water Treatment was approached by a client with a large-scale domestic property who was experiencing issues with water hardness and concerns regarding PFOS Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid) levels in their private water supply. Although the property already had an iron removal system in place, further treatment was necessary to ensure high-quality, safe, and potable water throughout the home.
Challenges Identified
- High levels of water hardness, primarily caused by elevated calcium and magnesium content.
- Presence of PFOS, a persistent chemical compound requiring advanced filtration for safe reduction.
- Outdated UV system that needed replacing to ensure microbial protection was maintained.
- Desire for purified drinking water at the kitchen sink, without treating the entire house to RO level.
Our Solution
Following a detailed site assessment and water analysis, J&F designed and implemented a comprehensive upgrade tailored to the client’s needs:
Water Softener Installation
A high-capacity softening unit was installed to reduce calcium and magnesium, effectively addressing scaling issues throughout the home’s plumbing, appliances, and heating systems.
Activated Carbon Filtration
We installed a specialist carbon filtration system for the targeted reduction of PFOS. This helped ensure compliance with increasingly stringent guidance on forever chemicals in drinking water.
UV System Upgrade from Luminor
To maintain biological safety, the property’s UV disinfection system was upgraded to a modern, efficient unit for optimal protection against bacteria and viruses.
Under-Sink Reverse Osmosis (Ecosoft Cross90)
To provide purified drinking water at the point of use, we installed the Ecosoft Cross90 RO system under the kitchen sink. This compact, high-performance system delivers bottled-quality water directly from the tap, ideal for drinking and food preparation.
