A domestic property relying on a borehole for its water supply faced significant water quality challenges. The raw water exhibited high turbidity, elevated iron levels, extreme hardness, and excessive sulphates, making it unsuitable for potable use without extensive water treatment.
We worked with a close customer of ours to supply for this install, we designed a comprehensive water treatment system, capable of delivering high-quality potable water.
Challenges
Upon receiving the water analysis, the borehole water presented multiple issues:
- High Turbidity – Cloudy water with suspended particles required effective filtration.
- Iron Contamination – Excess iron caused discolouration, staining, and the potential taste issues.
- Extreme Hardness – Excessive calcium and magnesium levels contributed to scale formation.
- Elevated Sulphates – High sulphate concentrations could lead to taste issues and potential health concerns.
Solution Provided by J&F Water Treatment
To ensure safe and high-quality water, we supplied a tailored multi-stage treatment system:
1. Filtration for Turbidity and Iron Removal:
– Filter Ag+ media was used to reduce turbidity and suspended solids.
– Pyrolox was incorporated to oxidise and filter out iron, preventing staining and improving water clarity.
2. Scale Prevention and Hardness Reduction:
– Antiscalant Dosing was introduced to prevent scaling within the reverse osmosis (RO) system.
– MO12000 Reverse Osmosis System was installed to handle the extremely high hardness, ensuring the final water quality met potable standards.
3. System Longevity and Performance Enhancements:
– Permeate Flush Assembly was implemented to prolong the lifespan of the RO membranes by preventing scaling and fouling.
4. Rebalancing and Disinfection:
– Remineralisation Vessel was included to restore essential minerals, ensuring balanced and pleasant-tasting drinking water.
– Luminor UV System was installed for final disinfection, eliminating bacteria and other pathogens.
Outcome
The treatment system was installed by one of J&F Water Treatments trusted partners, ensuring professional and efficient setup. The customer was extremely satisfied with the quality of the treated water and the reliability of the equipment.
